We have each taken a pledge sheet and pledged to make changes, small and large to contribute to a better world, focusing on the three main areas of Sustainability, Money in Action and Caring for others.
Each week we are emptying our Dana bowl to make a donation to a charity chosen by the Sangha. So far we have contributed £41 to the Green Tara Trust that works in maternity and child care in Nepal where the effects of the earthquake are still affecting lives. We have also contributed £60 to WaterAid that works around the world to ensure clean drinking water for the world’s most disadvantaged.
We are making contributions to the Quakers Food Bank.
We are engaging with socially active charities such as Amnesty International and the Reading True Food Cooperative.
On the 26th June we shall be holding a Soup and Sangha event and 50% of Dana will go to the Karuna Trust.
